Social Media — Brand Mentions¶
Coming soon
This service is in active development. Twitter MVP launch — Q3 2026, full set of channels (Reddit, Telegram, Google News) — Q4 2026. Beta access — by request to support@bytecode.team.
What this is¶
The service unifies 4 separate channels under one interface:
- Twitter / X — public tweets, retweets, replies mentioning your brand.
- Reddit — posts and comments across all subreddits, with emphasis on security-related ones (
r/netsec,r/cybersecurity,r/sysadmin). - Telegram — public channels (including those where data leaks are posted and attacks coordinated).
- Google News — indexed news mentions.
Why this matters¶
Social media is early warning for reputational and security incidents that haven't yet reached mainstream press or your internal logs:
| Scenario | Where it surfaces first |
|---|---|
| A customer on Twitter rages about a "your" $5000 charge they didn't make | |
| Someone on r/sysadmin writes "company X has a serious auth bypass" | |
| In a Telegram channel "leaks.darkweb" your domain appears | Telegram |
| A journalist drafts "Company X data breach" but hasn't published — early reposts circulate | Google News |
| A phishing campaign using your brand goes viral | Twitter + Telegram |
What we'll monitor per channel¶
Twitter / X¶
- Brand / domain mentions.
- Engagement metrics (likes, retweets) to score virality.
- Sentiment analysis: positive / neutral / negative.
- Keywords signaling a security incident:
hack,breach,leak.
Reddit¶
- Mentions across all subreddits.
- Separate monitoring of security-related subs.
- Score (upvotes - downvotes) and comments.
Telegram¶
- Public channels with credential leaks.
- Hacker forums on Telegram.
- Initial Access Broker channels.
- Text mentions plus automatic analysis of files (.zip, .txt dumps) posted in channels.
Google News¶
- Indexed news mentions in tier-1 and tier-3 outlets.
- Topic detection: "breach", "lawsuit", "outage", "acquisition".
- Sentiment.
Severity¶
| Severity | Case |
|---|---|
| Critical | Domain mentioned in a Telegram leak channel, or a viral negative tweet about a security incident |
| High | Mention with keywords "hack", "leak", "breach" alongside your brand |
| Medium | Any mention with negative sentiment |
| Low | Neutral mentions (useful for marketing/PR monitoring) |
What you'll see in the dashboard¶
Unified finding format across all 4 channels:
- Platform (Twitter / Reddit / Telegram / Google News).
- Preview of the mention text.
- Engagement metrics (likes, comments, views, virality).
- Author / channel.
- Sentiment + topic tags.
- Severity.
- Direct link to the original.
How to connect (planned)¶
Separately for each channel — every platform has its own access requirements:
- Twitter — paid API tier required ($100/month Basic). Setup — one token.
- Reddit — free, requires a Reddit OAuth app.
- Telegram — requires Telegram API access (free), one-time interactive SMS confirmation.
- Google News — no setup, works immediately.
Details — in this doc once the service ships.
Roadmap¶
- Q3 2026: Twitter MVP in production.
- Q4 2026: Reddit, Telegram, Google News.
- 2027: Mastodon, BlueSky, LinkedIn, TikTok.
FAQ¶
Why hasn't this shipped yet? Twitter API got expensive in 2023, which broke the economics of monitoring for small clients. Telegram monitoring requires specialized infrastructure (anti-flood, multi-account rotation). Launch is planned after Q3 2026.
Can I order monitoring for a specific Telegram channel right now? Yes, as a separate engagement in beta mode. Contact support@bytecode.team.
